[post_content] => Alicia and her husband Todd homeschool their 3 kids in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, PA. Alicia holds a BS in Disability Services from Indiana University of PA and worked as a Developmental Specialist in Early Intervention, Behavioral and Mental Health Consultant and Vision Therapist. She also ran a private preschool for several years. God led their family into this unexpected journey of homeschooling in 2016 when they started exploring educational options for their kids. Now along with homeschooling her own children she serves in several local ministries, helps encourage homeschoolers around the Pittsburgh area through in person and virtual support groups as well as serving as a volunteer with CHAP and answering homeschooling questions from curious people all over the state of PA.

[post_content] => Michael Farris has been a national leader in the homeschooling movement since he founded Home School Legal Defense Association in 1983. He has been the Chairman of HSLDA for the last 42 years.
Mike is a constitutional lawyer with over 48 years of experience. He has litigated and handled the appeals of dozens of cases involving important questions of constitutional law. He has argued and won two constitutional cases in the Supreme Court of the United States. He has argued numerous additional cases in both the state and federal appellate courts across the country.
He has led numerous conservative legal organizations over his decades of practice. He is best known as the Founding President of the Home School Legal Defense Association which he started in 1983. He has received many awards for his leadership in homeschooling including being named to the Top 100 Faces in Education for the Twentieth Century by Education Week. He was cited for his work in winning legal recognition for the right to homeschool.
He was the President and CEO of Alliance Defending Freedom from January 2017 until he retired in October 2022. During that time, ADF served as counsel in the Supreme Court for several important cases including Masterpiece Cakeshop. He personally argued NIFLA v. Becerra in the Supreme Court in 2018, winning a case that voided a California law that sought to silence pro-life pregnancy centers. During his presidency of ADF, the organization served as co-counsel to the Attorney General of Mississippi for the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case that reversed Roe v. Wade.
Farris was the Founding President of Patrick Henry College. He is currently Chancellor Emeritus for PHC. For seventeen years, he taught Constitutional Law, Public International Law, and coached the school’s moot court team.
Michael Farris graduated from Western Washington State College with an honors degree in Political Science in 1973. He earned his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1976 with honors. He was also an honors graduate from the University of London with an LL.M. in public international law.
He has used his international law degree primarily to lead efforts to successfully block the ratification of UN treaties which would have the effect of transferring jurisdiction of domestic issues from the states to the federal government which in turn would be under the supervision of the UN. He has successfully argued that Americans should make the law for America.
Michael Farris is also an ordained Baptist minister and currently serves as an elder for his church, Cornerstone Chapel, in Leesburg, Virginia. He and his wife, Vickie, have ten children, thirty-one grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Now one of her great passions is improving mathematics education for homeschoolers by increasing rigor while maintaining the creativity and free-thinking that she enjoyed in her schooling.

God continues to put ideas into my head for stories that not only entertain but encourage my readers to take a look at life and see if there’s not some changes that could be made to walk a better walk , talk a clearer talk , and live life with one all-consuming purpose: glorifying our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

[post_content] => Experienced mentor of men, with a passion to see all men thrive in their role as a dad. Born in Western Pennsylvania, with a Master of Divinity and ordination as a pastor, Joel served in both the church setting and Christian Camps setting in executive roles. With 25 years’ experience as a pastor with an emphasis on intergenerational ministry to youth and children, Joel focused on equipping leaders so they might be intentional in the investment of the next generation. Joel currently serves in the role of Director of Field Staff and Resource Development for Christian Service Brigade. Joel understands dads and how they can best interact with and deepen their relationship with their children. You will enjoy the hands-on emphasis with a shoulder-to-shoulder, activity-driven setting in which both the dads and kids will thrive. Come prepared to leave with tips and ideas of how a dad can tie biblical principles into an activity with his children. (What dad doesn’t want to learn how to make a boomerang with his children?)

[post_content] => Apologia’s esteemed math author, nationwide speaker, a homeschooled student herself, Kathryn (Bell) Gomes holds an M. Ed. in mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh. She has taught math to homeschooled students for thirteen years and is very familiar with the challenges of learning math at home. Kathryn spent three years teaching mathematics in inner-city Philadelphia through Teach for America. She then taught in the most ethnically diverse high school in Pennsylvania. During this time, Kathryn designed Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 curricula for English Language Learners. Now one of her great passions is improving mathematics education for homeschoolers by increasing rigor while maintaining the creativity and free-thinking that she enjoyed in her schooling.

[post_content] => Elizabeth has a Bachelor of Science degree and have also pursued advanced studies in Neuro-Developmental Delay Therapy with the Institute of Neuro Physiological Psychology in Chester England (INPP), as well as becoming a Certified Listening Fitness Trainer with The Listening Fitness Center, Canada.
Her training with INPP and LiFT has allowed her to approach children’s difficulties and disabilities from a developmental perspective. Elizabeth is a workshop speaker who has conducted workshops in several homeschool conventions across the country. She is also a former homeschool mom who homeschooled both her kids all the way through high school. Both of them have graduated from college. Her son graduated with a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering and her daughter with a Bachelors degree in History.
As the homeschool mom of a child who struggled with learning and academics, Elizabeth knows first-hand the pain, frustration and sometimes the helplessness that come with having a struggling learner.
If you are a parent seeking help for your child, Elizabeth knows exactly how you feel, she has been there. Be encouraged, there is hope!

Mike is a constitutional lawyer with over 48 years of experience. He has litigated and handled the appeals of dozens of cases involving important questions of constitutional law.

In the past twenty years, we’ve seen a lot of changes in the homeschool community. There is much more pressure being put on homeschoolers to excel academically. We’ve gone from a few brave moms who, without access to mainstream “curriculum”, managed to give their children an excellent education—but we’ve forgotten what made it excellent. It was excellent because these moms had a vision for homeschooling—they weren’t trying to re-create school at home. They were simply being obedient to the One who had called them to be different. They knew that if He had called them, He would equip them. And they were right. If you’re struggling to find joy in your calling as a homeschooling parent, if you’re looking for more LIFE in your homeschool, this is one keynote you won’t want to miss. join Heidi as she talks about her journey away from curriculum-driven, workbook based homeschooling and into delight-directed learning. Researchers now confirm what the greatest minds in education have advocated for centuries: raising self-sufficient, self-motivated, eager learners depends on specific actions and attitudes from parents and educators. Unfortunately, most of what we naturally tend to do results in the exact opposite—overwhelmed, unmotivated, anxious, unhappy learners. There is a very good and logical reason our parental efforts go unrewarded. In this talk, Jeannie shares modern research along with both Biblical and ancient wisdom to equip you with the mindset, tools, and faith needed to help your children develop self-motivation and a drive to pursue their education and God-given purpose with passion.
Choosing the right curriculum, making a place for the classroom, and setting up your schedule are all important, but when it is all said and done—YOU are the teacher. 12:15 PM-1:00 PM-
To embrace the best approaches for a truly superior education, we must first deprogram ourselves from the beliefs about education that we have long accepted as truth, along with the models that claim to be the standard by which education should be measured. Our society has been immersed in a system designed not to educate minds but to produce obedient, unquestioning, uncurious, and unoriginal workers. In this highly acclaimed talk, Jeannie explores the research and impact of this educational model, which not only stifles a child’s natural self-motivation and creativity but also suppresses divine curiosity, transforming an innate love for learning into mere drudgery. Discover how to choose methods and practices that genuinely educate the whole child—spirit, soul, and body—nurturing a lifelong passion for knowledge and growth.

Forensic science has captivated the attention of our culture, but have you ever considered that this science is historical in nature and subject to the scientist’s bias? Are you curious how forensic science should be viewed through the lens of the Bible? This presentation will provide an in-depth look into forensic science and how God’s fingerprint designs support the truth of the biblical creation described in Genesis.

The progressive movement believes that all children should be trained in their value system. This is why there are multiple assaults on parental rights in education, medicine, religious upbringing, and more. The homeschooling movement has long been a flashpoint for parental rights clashes—and the groundwork is being laid for an increased assault on our rights and freedoms. We are not the only targets, but we will be the most effective force in fighting for the rights of all parents.
Society is becoming increasingly secularized, and Christians are being pressured to bow the knee to the modern woke agenda. The church is supposed to challenge the culture with the truth of God’s Word and the gospel but many times the opposite is happening and the culture instead invades the church. We can combat this invasion, but we must argue or reason with people starting with God’s Word. We must not give up our firm foundation!
Young adults today are struggling. It's not exactly a revelatory statement–one only needs to glance at the closest high school or university to see it clearly. A hopeless and profound lack of direction is a hallmark of our culture, and these problems are so pervasive that even young adults fortunate enough to come from solid, Christian homes still deal with shades of these issues. What are we to tell them? In this session, Trent offers a practical perspective on hope, and how it inspires the kind of resilient lifestyle that allows today’s young adults to face failure undefeated.
We will come together for 45 minutes with practical application to recognize your challenges, your ambitions, your strengths, and your innate gifts and talents. You will walk away with tools, strategies, and an action plan to move forward and stop procrastinating in the things you are called to do.
3:15 PM-4:00 PM-
If homeschooling up till now feels more like drudgery than delight, or if the thought of homeschooling makes your knees shake and your palms sweat, this is the workshop for you! Perhaps you've been hearing from "experts" that view homeschooling as just another form of education, like any other. Public schools think that way, but homeschooling is nothing like the school system. It's just the opposite. Learning at home is an adventure, a journey, a new lifestyle. Join veteran homeschool mom of seven (including one homeschool graduate!) Heidi St.John as she talks about the three things you've got to know as a new homeschooler that will set you on a track for success and enjoyment with your children.
Because, although you're nervous now, it'll all be okay. Homeschooling is worth it. So sit back, relax. You'll soon discover that homeschooling is a journey like no other. Take it in stride that you will bumble and stumble, stick your foot in it, take wrong turns, backtrack, start again, and again . . . . and your child will be just fine. Come and bring a friend for a dose of information and encouragement. You can do it!
Will shares from the heart about being a homeschool graduate and homeschool dad. In this session, he encourages dads of homeschool students, diving into Scripture, giving practical tips, and sharing what he has learned in his own homeschool journey.
Have you ever wondered why your child lost so much ground over the summer? Or why their frustration in a certain subject just keeps snowballing? Neuroscience is exploding as a field right now and we know more about the brain and how we learn and retain new information than ever before. The brain is an amazing part of God’s design and the latest research can help us work with that design instead of against it. In this session, Kathryn summarizes the research she found most helpful as a homeschool mom and offers practical tips on how to apply it to your homeschool day.

As one of the nation’s leading constitutional lawyers, and an activist for homeschooling, parental rights, religious freedom, and the right to life, Mike Farris has gained a lifetime of knowledge and insights. However, he has learned the key of communicating advanced truths in everyday language that will help both homeschooling parents and students to learn the key principles of the Constitution and how to have an effective role as a freedom-loving citizen.
Traditional school methodologies often leave children disengaged and struggling to retain information, with little opportunity to develop critical thinking skills. Notebooking offers an inspiring alternative to the uninspired and wholly ineffective worksheets, seat work, and busywork found in most curricula. Join Jeannie as she explores why notebooking is an essential and transformative approach to education, fostering creativity, engagement, and deeper learning. Discover how to implement this powerful tool seamlessly, regardless of the curriculum you use, and watch your child’s love for learning flourish.
We live in a society that is very confused about their identity. They think that an individual can define and determine everything about themselves including their gender. What does the Bible say about sex and gender? Are they separate? Are there only two? What about people who have gender/sex abnormalities? Is there any biological or genetic basis for transgender or homosexuality? Let’s take a look at what God’s Word says and see how science confirms and supports the truths of God’s Word. God created us as His image bearers and as our Creator He is not confused about who He made us!

Many experts, theorists, and scientists claim that science contradicts the Bible and is therefore fallible, inaccurate, and cannot be trusted. But what we find in the truth of God’s word is that an all-knowing God established laws of nature that govern the study of scientific principles. The word science means knowledge. God is knowledge (Psalm 139), and He created our understanding of knowledge about Him and his creation (Genesis 1:26-27). Based on this understanding, it is clear that science cannot exist without the knowledge of God (Proverbs 2:6). Through the lens of the Bible, this presentation will examine the origins of science (knowledge), explain the difference between historical and observational science, and show examples of how science confirms the Bible.

Having been homeschooled my whole life (K-12) alongside my nine siblings, my parents were often considered crazy! They chose one of the hardest paths to ensure my siblings and I had a solid foundation to start from. It wasn’t always easy, and they didn’t always hit the mark, but their love for us was extremely clear. To this day, I remain grateful to my parents for choosing to homeschool me. Even so, there are some things I had to learn the hard way in adulthood; things I wish my parents had shown me. I’ll share some of those things with you, and provide possible solutions so you can ensure your children are ready to leave the nest.
