[post_content] => Andrew Pudewa is the founder and director of the Institute for Excellence in Writing. Presenting around the world, he addresses issues relating to teaching, writing, thinking, and spelling with clarity, insight, practical experience, and humor. His seminars for parents, students, and teachers have helped transform many a reluctant writer and have equipped educators with powerful tools to dramatically improve students’ skills. Although he is a graduate of the Talent Education Institute in Japan (Suzuki Method) and holds a Certificate of Child Brain Development, his best endorsement is from a young Alaskan boy who called him “the funny man with the wonderful words.”
He and his beautiful, heroic wife, Robin, homeschooled their seven children and are now proud grandparents of nineteen, making their home in Northeastern Oklahoma’s picturesque Green Country.

[post_content] => Will began his legal career working for HSLDA in January 2004 as a legal assistant to HSLDA Senior Counsel Scott Woodruff. After graduating from Oak Brook College of Law and Government Policy with his Juris Doctor in 2006, he moved on to direct HSLDA’s Federal Relations department and serve as HSLDA’s federal lobbyist.
Will worked as a career federal employee in the Office for Civil Rights at the US Department of Health and Human Services from 2018 to 2021. In November of 2021, he resigned from the federal government and was selected by the Board of ParentalRights.org to serve as the first full-time president of ParentalRights.org and the Parental Rights Foundation.
In June of 2023, Will decided to return to his roots at HSLDA, this time serving as a senior counsel and contact attorney for HSLDA members in the states of California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Wyoming, as well as Washington DC. He works to make homeschooling possible for thousands of member families and hundreds of thousands of homeschool students by advocating in state legislatures for homeschool freedom, working to ensure that homeschool graduates are treated equally, and that the laws protecting the rights of homeschool families are followed by government officials.
Will is a member of the following state and federal bars: U.S. Supreme Court, First Circuit Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, California, and District of Columbia. In June of 2023, Will was selected by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin to serve a four-year term on the Board of Visitors of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.
Will is a homeschool graduate from Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Rachel (a homeschool graduate from Virginia), homeschool their two sons in Northern Virginia.

[post_content] => Roger and Jan Smith, of Gilbert, Louisiana, married in college before entering medical school. Roger practices Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in a small community, while Jan runs the family businesses and horse farm.
The Smiths feel that their four adult children are their greatest accomplishment. Choosing to homeschool from the very start, and continuing through high school, the Smiths say this made all the difference in their family. The strong relationship the children share with one another and with their parents show the grace of God, and that homeschooling is worth the investment of time and energy.
Roger and Jan address groups about marriage, family, homeschooling, and leadership—things they have made a life study. Both Roger and Jan have been mentors at a local faith-based substance abuse program and at their church, and they are committed to a life of hospitality.
Roger is author of Parenting with Influence, has a weekly video blog on parenting (YouTube and Facebook @ParentingMattersNow), and has a podcast, Parenting Matters Now, that airs three times weekly, sharing parenting tips “a few minutes at a time.”
The Smiths currently serve on the board for the National Alliance of Christian Home Education Leaders.

[post_content] => Lisa A. Werley firmly believes that teaching young people how to manage money is an investment in their lifetime. Lisa’s passion for financial literacy is the reason she has dedicated her life mission and legacy to teaching and inspiring youth to become financially literate adults.
As an author, speaker and financial coach for over 25 years, Lisa has volunteered her time coaching adults and teaching young people to become self-confident in managing money. Lisa is the author of Raising Money Smart Kids, Tween and Teens, financial literacy materials that teach young people how to create and manage a personal budget. She is also the author and creator of the Johnny & Jay Book series featuring The Giving Jar and Parker’s Dinosaur Smile.
Lisa is very excited about the opportunity to speak and engage with teens at the 2026 CHAP Convention where she will remind youth to see themselves as honored managers of God’s financial resources. She will challenge them to build character as she shares the money management and financial literacy program she and her husband have implemented and have taught their son. Lisa knows from personal experience that it is possible to raise financially literate and independent adults.
Professionally, Lisa is an Accounting Manager and has over 30 years’ experience in the accounting and finance industry. Lisa is married to her husband, Travis, of 27 years. Travis and Lisa have a grown son, Jonathon. They reside on their farm in Berks County, PA.

Alicia holds a BS in Disability Services from Indiana University of PA and worked as a Developmental Specialist in Early Intervention, Behavioral and Mental Health Consultant and Vision Therapist. 1:15 PM-2:00 PM-
Are you tired of being the engine behind every school day? This workshop will show you how to raise homeschoolers who take ownership of their learning and manage their time and tasks without constant reminders. Learn practical shifts in mindset, routines, and tools that help you move from instructor to mentor—so your kids grow in independence, and you gain breathing room in the process.
Starting homeschooling can feel overwhelming, especially when navigating state requirements, paperwork, and curriculum choices. This workshop will guide families through the essential steps to begin homeschooling in Pennsylvania with confidence. Parents will learn about the legal requirements, how to file the necessary documents, practical tips for organizing their homeschool year, and helpful resources to support them along the journey. Whether you are just considering homeschooling or preparing to begin, this session will provide clarity, encouragement, and practical guidance.
How to implement gentle, developmentally appropriate activities to help your child develop a love of learning and needed foundational skills for future academic growth.
2:15 PM-3:00 PM-
Homeschooling has seasons—and some feel longer (and crazier!) than others. Whether you’re just starting out, juggling toddlers and teens, or approaching graduation, this workshop offers practical tips and real-life encouragement for every stage of the journey. Come be reminded: you will survive—and even thrive!
This workshop encourages parents to embrace homeschooling as more than academics by focusing on a Christ-centered vision of education. We will explore how to integrate a biblical worldview, character formation, and spiritual discipleship into everyday learning, helping families homeschool with clarity and eternal purpose.

What if we’re getting childhood all wrong? What if the things children need most—and the right kind of preparation for their futures—aren’t what we’ve been told? Families are feeling the strain, and children are paying the price—growing anxious, overwhelmed, and disconnected. The very essence of childhood—the foundation for creativity, resilience, and joy—is quietly vanishing. This keynote will spark a powerful conversation about what children truly need to thrive. It will uncover the hidden forces stealing childhood and inspire a bold, practical path to reclaim it. Growing Up: A Money Smart Teen
Inspiring youth to see themselves as honored managers of God’s
financial resources by developing character and passion
to make a difference for their lifetime.
God’s gifts and your responsibility as His managers.
The Word of God has very specific lessons that teach us about money. Money is a gift from God, a privilege and not a guarantee. When we are trusted with His financial resources, we take on the responsibility as financial stewards and managers of these gifts. This session will begin with a thorough discussion of the humble attitude we must have when managing God’s financial resources and how we show gratitude to God through planned financial choices. We will discuss our responsibility as money managers and how this applies to Financial Literacy and Financial Civics.
What does it mean to be in the driver’s seat of your financial future?
We recognize that a teens greatest desire is to own a car someday. But, with that privilege comes huge responsibility. We will relate this to the responsibility of “driving” another great privilege - money. Managing money begins by recognizing that we must maintain control of our spending decisions. Attendees will participate in a hands-on activity and watch a short video that will demonstrate the pitfalls of not being “in the driver’s seat” of their money. They will learn why establishing a plan, in advance, will help them maintain self-control and avoid these pitfalls and “potholes”.
Needs vs. wants. How do we choose? How can we satisfy both?
Managing money is a balancing act. If we are not careful, we can fill our lives with too many things we want that prevents leaving room for what we need. In this section of the presentation attendees will learn how they can meet their needs and, also, leave room for things they want. This will be demonstrated through another hands-on activity they are sure not to forget. Attendees will learn how to spend, save, give and invest, wisely. Accomplishment is the name of the game here.
Growing up a wise money manager and successfully independent adult.
In the next part of this session, attendees will learn what it means to “stay in their lane” when driving a successful budget, and how a budget can be the perfect GPS they need to get them from point A (gross pay) to point B (net pay) with age-appropriate, life applicable lessons that have proven to be successful for other young people their age.
SLOW DOWN and enjoy the drive! Time is on your side.
Now that we have discussed the privilege and responsibility as God’s young money managers and how to drive a success budget, we will take a scenic route to the final point of this session. Being awarded the “license to drive” a financial budget, means knowing the speed limit before “taking the wheel” to ensure safety. Proverbs 21:5 reminds us; “The plans of the diligent leads to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” We will close the session discussing why methodical money managers slow down to appreciate delayed gratification through time value of money even at this early age.
11:15 AM-12:00 PM-
Discover the tools that teach your children how to think well and develop understanding of any subject, topic, or trade. We will model these tools allowing you to experience them yourself!

With humor and insight, Andrew Pudewa explains these two easy but powerful skills, which build language patterns and nurture competent communicators.

In this presentation, we will analyze both this model bill and the worldview on which it is based, and tell you exactly what you need to know about the Make Homeschool Safe Act. We are eager to inform and equip your family now so you can respond quickly and knowledgably to these emerging threats.
