VOLUNTEERS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!

The Convention cannot go on without YOU! CHAP is a primarily volunteer led organization. Please be praying how you can volunteer at the CHAP Convention and make a difference by serving.

What volunteer jobs are available at the Convention this year?

There are many volunteer jobs available! Some require a watchful eye. Some require a servant’s heart. Some require computer or cash register skills. All of them are important! Go here for more info: Volunteer Job Descriptions.

The available positions are divided into shifts of about 3 to 4 hours. Volunteer positions are available on a first-come basis and once a position is filled, it will show up as full when you sign up on the website. Please select a different position if your first choice is not available.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

Besides the joy of serving fellow homeschoolers and helping to make the convention possible, CHAP expresses appreciation of our volunteers through:

  • The CHAP Volunteer Rebate system: an individual adult volunteering for a shift will be rebated the adult registration fee amount at the Early Bird registration rate.
Is there an age requirement for volunteering?

Most volunteer positions are for 18 years and older. However, some volunteer positions are available for ages 14-17. The requirement for teen volunteers ages 14-17 is that at least ONE adult from the same family must be volunteering. (The adult and teen may volunteer for different time slots and positions.)

May I have my baby, toddler, or child with me while I volunteer?

If you are attending the convention with small children, please make arrangements ahead of time to have responsible coverage. Children are not permitted on the job with you. We need to be able to count on your full attention while you are working. Thank you for your cooperation.

How does the Volunteer Rebate System work?
  • Adult rebate is up to the early bird basic adult registration rate*. A volunteer who works ONE 3-4 hour shift will receive this rebate.

*If you registered after registration prices go up, you will receive the same rebate prices as shown above. We encourage you to register early and sign up as a volunteer.

If you register for a volunteer job online, your rebate check will be given at the convention after you have completed your volunteer time. However, if you wait until you come to the convention to sign up for a volunteer job, your check will be issued after the convention and sent via the postal service, as we will need time to process these rebates. We encourage everyone to sign up now, but understand that sometimes you will not know your availability until you arrive at the convention.

How Do I Sign Up to Volunteer?

Click on the “REGISTER” button below to see a list of convention volunteer positions and their descriptions. Choose the day (Wednesday (pre-convention), Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday) and the position(s) you would like to fill.

Jobs that are listed as (Adult or Teen) mean that both adults and teens (14-17 year olds) may volunteer for these. A volunteering teen must have an adult from the same family volunteering; the teen and adult do not have to volunteer for the same job or time slot.

You only need to select one job to qualify for a rebate, but you may select more than one position. Our system will not let you overlap job times. If you select more than one job, we expect you to be at all of them.

If you would like to add another volunteer or need to make any changes after you submit your volunteer registration, please contact Cherryann at volunteer@chaponline.com.

Please download the volunteer letter immediately after completing your registration!  You will need to refer back to this information.

What is a Super Volunteer? What additional benefits do Super Volunteers receive?

For years, CHAP has had several homeschool individuals and families who want to serve more than just a few hours at the convention. They choose to serve all day Friday and/or all day Saturday. Some even serve from setup Thursday morning until tear down Saturday evening! We call these servant-hearted people our Super Volunteers.

We provide our Super Volunteers with a packet containing bonus benefits such as lunch tickets, recognition ribbon, coupons, and other special goodies, as an expression of our gratitude for your generous service.

Areas of All day (Super) Volunteer needs include:

  • Registration

If interested in being a Super Volunteer (all day Thursday, all day Friday, all day Saturday, or a combination of these), please contact Cherryann, at volunteer@chaponline.com.

What do I do if I need to change my job/time slot?
or
What if I find I can’t serve and need to cancel?

If in the event of sickness, work, severe weather, or urgent family needs you find you cannot fulfill your volunteer shift, please contact Cherryann, at volunteer@chaponline.com. Thank you!

THANK YOU!

A HUGE THANK YOU to the many who have volunteered with CHAP over the years. We appreciate your sacrifice in order to support the homeschooling community.
